COOKIE-POLICY
As of: 13.09.2024
We, Westfalenhallen Unternehmensgruppe GmbH and our subsidiaries, hereinafter collectively referred to as “Westfalenhallen”, use cookies and other technologies within our online services (e.g. on websites, in browser-based applications or in apps) that can be used to collect information that we need to provide functions within our online services and to improve our online services. Some of the cookies or other technologies used require your express consent. We ask you to agree to their use so that you can take full advantage of all the features provided by our online services. We provide you with this notice in order to comply with our legal obligation and to inform you about which cookies are used when you use our online services and how we protect your privacy in doing so.
In this Cookie Policy, we refer to all technologies, including cookies, web beacons, pixels, as well as script trackers and other programmatic client-side technologies that can be used to collect user information, explain their purpose, the extent of their use, and show you ways in which you can manage and control the behavior of these technologies. In the broadest sense, cookies also include content or service offers from third-party providers, such as for the integration of videos, maps or for the use of certain fonts or for the provision of administrative or other functions that are integrated into our online offers. These third-party providers can always identify the respective user, as they require the user's IP address to provide them with their offers. For reasons of consistency, all these methods will be collectively referred to as “cookies” in the following, unless a distinction is explicitly made between the individual methods.
This cookie policy applies to our online services under the domain “westfalenhallen-gruppe.de” and associated subdomains, as well as to other online services of Westfalenhallen Unternehmensgruppe GmbH, insofar as these refer to this cookie policy. This cookie policy can be accessed, saved and printed at any time within our online services. By using our online services, you agree that we may use cookies in accordance with this Cookie Policy. Further information on the use of your personal data can be found in our data protection declaration.
1. What are cookies?
1.1 Cookies and other technologies are used to enable certain functions within online services, e.g. to recognize a user, to store a user's preferences, to uniquely assign temporary process- or transaction-related data to a user, to store additional security information when a user logs into his user account, or to collect information about the use of an online service and to improve its use. These technologies are also used by almost all online services to recognize whether the respective online service has already been accessed using the same device and the same browser, in order to adapt the displayed content accordingly and, in some cases, to vary it.
1.2. Cookies and other technologies may be used by the Westfalenhallen, but also by other third-party providers. This applies to content such as videos, online-based applications or analytical tools that help us to improve our online offers, as well as to content that is activated depending on the user, such as clicks on “share” buttons, which can be used to share content from our online offers in social media such as Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter. This cookie policy also applies to third-party cookies. Whether a cookie comes from a first-party or a third-party provider depends on the domain placing the cookie. First-party cookies are cookies placed by the online services that the user visits. Third-party cookies are cookies placed by a domain other than the domain of the online services that the user visits. Third-party providers place their cookies in online offers of the first-party provider if they provide technologies that the first-party provider uses within the online offers or provides to its users. The Westfalenhallen have concluded order processing contracts or comparable agreements with these third-party providers in accordance with Art. 28 Para. 3 DS-GVO.
1.3 Cookies can only be read by the online service from which the cookie originated. Cookies do not normally collect any personal data that is stored on your end device. Cookies are merely the key that can be used to establish a connection to personal data, provided that this has been collected at all. Cookies can be classic text-based cookies, web beacons, pixels or scripts.
• Persistent cookies are stored on the device used to access our online services for a period of time specified in the cookie. These cookies are created the first time you visit our online services, unless browser settings prevent this in principle, and are reactivated on each subsequent visit, provided that this visit is made using a device on which a cookie is already present.
Session cookies enable the operators of online services to record the actions of a user during a browser session and to relate them to each other. A browser session begins when the browser is opened and ends when the browser is closed. Session cookies are deleted as soon as the browser is closed.
• Web beacons and pixels are files that are integrated into an online offering and requested by the accessing user's browser. They enable log file recording and log file analysis, which can be used for statistical evaluations. In the process, information such as the IP address, the browser used or the accessing system's operating system can be transmitted.
Script trackers and other client-side programmatic technologies are small JavaScript-based programs or programmatic content based on other technologies that can provide functions that enable browser recognition. They do not need to store any data on the accessing end device. These technologies are only used if they are supported and activated by the accessing user's browser.
1.4 Since many providers use more than one of the above technologies, these cookies are grouped below according to their purpose and the associated source domain.
2. What cookies do we use?
2.1. Cookies are usually categorized into five types based on their function, the technology used and their purpose: essential cookies, analytical cookies, functional cookies, targeting cookies and flash cookies. Please refer to the following list for the different types of cookies that we may use on our online services.
2.2. Necessary cookies: Necessary cookies enable navigation within our online offers and the provision of essential functions that would not work without the use of cookies or that we would not be able to offer in their current form without usage restrictions. This also includes the provision of specially secured areas that may receive personal user data or enable payment activities. These areas are provided exclusively after successful user authentication to protect our users' data. Necessary cookies are one of several methods used to ensure that the user requesting sensitive information has successfully authenticated themselves beforehand in order to prevent misuse of the information we store elsewhere. In addition, settings such as language, location and display-optimizing information such as screen resolution or buffer size can be stored. Necessary cookies are not used for advertising purposes and are not used to collect behavioral information about users of our online services. To use our online services, you must accept necessary cookies. If you do not accept necessary cookies, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to use our online services to their full extent and that security will be guaranteed during your visit.
2.3 Functional cookies: We use functional cookies to store user decisions that influence the behavior of our online offers. With the help of functional cookies, we can offer personalized functions, such as content tailored to individual user needs. For example, we can reactivate your last-used search filters or check whether we have already drawn your attention to offers. Additional information may be stored on our systems for this purpose and linked to functional cookies. These functions help us to adapt our online offers to your individual needs and improve your user experience. For optimal use of our online offers, it is therefore necessary that you accept these types of cookies. If you do not accept functional cookies, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to use our online services to their full extent. Functional cookies may also be managed by third parties. Information on the protection of personal data for these cookies can be found on the websites of these third parties, which are named below.
2.4. Analytical cookies:
Analytical cookies are used to collect information about the use of online services. This type of cookie helps us to further improve our services, gives us insights into the behavior of our users and helps us to identify and eliminate difficulties or errors in the use of our online services. It also allows us to evaluate the efficiency of our advertising efforts and improve the quality of the advertising displayed to our users. These cookies are not linked to any information that can be used to identify individual users. Analytical cookies may also be managed by third parties. Information on the protection of personal data for these cookies can be found on the websites of the third parties named below.
2.5. Targeting cookies:
We or service providers contracted by us may use targeting cookies that are used to show you more relevant product information based on your interests. They also help us to improve the efficiency of our advertising campaigns. With the help of targeting cookies, we can, for example, limit the number of advertisements you see or recognize when you have responded to one of our advertisements. These cookies can be used to recognize individual users and to record which information within our online offers has been particularly relevant for you. We may share this information with advertisers we have engaged and they may combine it with information from other personal data sources. This also includes data that has been collected about you when using other online services. You can also control your settings and personal preferences regarding the collection of personal data by third parties. This means that you will no longer receive advertising that has been tailored to your needs based on the information collected about you. Please note that you will need to adjust your settings accordingly on each device and for each browser that you use to access our services. Even if such cookies are not used, you may still see advertising from us. This advertising is displayed to users in certain target group-specific environments on the internet and is comparable to the broadcasting of television advertising: If you watch a travel magazine, for example, you will see more travel-related commercials during the commercial breaks. If targeting cookies are managed by third parties, you will find information on the protection of personal data for these cookies on the websites of these third parties, which are listed below.
2.6. Flash cookies:
Sometimes so-called flash cookies are used when embedding the Adobe Flash plug-in. These can store user settings and information about shared local resources on the accessing end device for the respective content being played. Flash cookies may not be managed in the browser, but through other interfaces, depending on the end device used. The Adobe website provides more information on how to manage, disable or delete flash cookies. Please note that after disabling Flash cookies, you may no longer be able to use certain features of our online services. You can block Flash cookies in the Adobe Flash Player settings and, to some extent, directly in your browser, depending on whether the browser software you are using to access our website offers this feature. Further information can be found here: www.adobe.com/devnet/security.html

4. Cookies (or technologies) from third-party providers
4.1. The following sections provide an overview of all cookies from third-party providers used within our online offers, their origin and purpose. The integration of technologies from third-party providers always requires that they receive the IP address of the user, since the functions cannot be provided without the user's IP address. The IP address is required to provide these functions. In addition, these third-party providers may also receive further technical information, such as the browser used, the operating system and technical device information, the date and the duration of the visit. We endeavor to use only content from providers who use the IP address solely for the purpose of delivering the content. These third-party providers may also store text cookies on the user's device if the device allows it. The user information may also be linked by these third-party providers with information from other sources.
4.2 Further information on the use of personal data collected and processed by these third-party providers within our online services can be found in the respective data protection notices of the respective third-party providers, which are linked below. In some cases, options for objecting are already mentioned, which you can use to object to the use of cookies from these third-party providers. In all other cases, you will find further options for objecting in the data protection notices of these third-party providers. Please note that you usually have to object to the use of cookies on a device- or system-dependent basis. You must perform this opt-out for all systems and devices that you use, for example, also in another browser or on your mobile device.
5. Google Re/Marketing services
5.1 We use Google Re/Marketing services to analyze and optimize our online offers. Google Marketing services allow us to display ads in a more targeted manner so that they potentially match the interests of users. When a user visits other websites that use Google Re/Marketing services to serve ads, the user may be shown ads tailored to them. For this purpose, when you visit our websites on which Google Re/Marketing services are active, a code is executed by Google, invisible graphics are integrated into the website, or comparable technologies are used. With their help, it is determined which websites the user has visited, which content he is interested in and which offers he has clicked on. Furthermore, metadata such as technical information about the browser and operating system as well as the user's IP address, referring websites, visiting time and other information on the use of the respective online offer are recorded. This information about the user can also be linked by Google with information from other sources. The user data is processed by Google within pseudonymized user profiles, which are not assigned by Google to a specific person, but to a device or cookie owner. Real names or email addresses are not collected or stored unless a user has explicitly allowed Google to process this data. The information collected about users by means of Google Remarketing Services is transmitted to Google and stored in the United States. Google is certified under the Privacy Shield Agreement and guarantees to comply with European data protection law (https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt000000001L5AAI&status=Actives). If you wish to object to interest-based advertising by Google Marketing Services, you can use the settings and opt-out options provided by Google: adssettings.google.com/authenticated.

6. Functional services from Google
6.1. We use functional services from Google to be able to offer the respective functions – such as maps or special programming frameworks – within our online offers. These functions are very complex, which is why we rely on a third-party provider to provide these functions in an economical and technological way. For these purposes, when you visit our web pages on which Google's functional services are active, programmatic technologies (“scripts”) from Google are executed, which serve to determine the appropriate technical parameters of the accessing user's browser environment and to be able to display the respective content and functions adapted to the user's browser environment. According to the definition given above, these scripts are also cookies (“script trackers”). Among other things, metadata such as technical information about the browser and operating system as well as the user's IP address, the online offer in which the function is integrated, visiting time and further information on the use of the respective online offer are determined and passed on to Google. The user data collected in the context of providing functional services are processed by Google within pseudonymized user profiles, which are not assigned by Google to a specific person, but to a device or cookie owner. Google guarantees that the information will not be used for other purposes. Real names or e-mail addresses are not collected or stored unless a user has expressly allowed Google to process this data.
Cookie name Google APIs
Managed by: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland
Purpose: Some of our website functions are heavily dependent on the APIs provided by Google. These include, among other things, fonts (Google Fonts), but also program libraries. Personal data may be processed to the extent necessary to provide functionality within our websites. Google guarantees that the information will not be used for other purposes.

Cookie name: Google Universal Analytics
Managed by: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland
Purpose: We use Google Universal Analytics on our online services. Google Universal Analytics cookies are used to collect visitor session and behavioral data for analysis reports. This enables us to obtain information about the use of our services on different devices (“cross-device”) and to improve the user-friendliness of our services with the results obtained. For this purpose, pseudonymized user profiles are used that do not contain any personal data such as names or e-mail addresses, and none of this information is transmitted to Google. Google uses this information on our behalf to evaluate the use of our online services, to create reports on the activities within our online services and to provide us with further services associated with the use of our online services. Pseudonymous user profiles can be created from the processed data. We use Google Universal Analytics with activated IP anonymization. This means that the user's IP address is shortened by Google within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be sent to a Google server in the US and shortened there. The IP address provided by the user's browser will not be merged with other Google data.

Cookie name: YouTube
Managed by: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland
Purpose: We have integrated components from YouTube into our online services. YouTube allows video clips to be posted, viewed, rated and commented on free of charge. When you access one of the individual pages of our online services that has YouTube content embedded in it, a connection to YouTube is established in order to download the elements necessary to display the corresponding video. In doing so, YouTube or the operating company Google receives information about which subpage within our online offers has been accessed by the respective user. In addition, further information, such as the IP address, the browser used, the operating system and technical device information, the date and the duration of the visit are forwarded. If the user is logged in to YouTube at the same time as visiting our online offers with the same device, YouTube recognizes the user when a single page containing a YouTube video is accessed. This happens regardless of whether the person clicks on a YouTube video or not. This information can be collected by YouTube or Google and assigned to the profile of the respective user, provided that the elements have not been embedded in “privacy mode”. We always use “privacy mode” if possible.

Purpose: We have integrated Vimeo components into our online services. Vimeo enables the free posting and sharing of videos as well as their viewing. When you access one of our individual pages on which Vimeo content is embedded, a connection to Vimeo is established in order to download the necessary elements to display the corresponding video. In doing so, Vimeo receives information about which subpage of our website was visited by the respective user. In addition, further data, such as the IP address, the browser used, the operating system, technical device information, the date and the duration of the visit, are forwarded to Vimeo.
If the user is logged in to Vimeo with the same device while visiting our website, Vimeo recognizes the user by calling up the page that contains a Vimeo video. This data transfer occurs regardless of whether the embedded video is played or not. Vimeo may collect this information and associate it with the user's profile. To ensure data protection, we use Vimeo's “Do-Not-Track” mode whenever possible, which ensures limited data transfer to Vimeo.

7. Use of the meta pixel for analysis purposes
Our website uses the so-called meta pixel (formerly Facebook pixel), a web analysis service from Meta Platforms, Inc. (represented in Europe by Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd., 4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Ireland). The meta pixel allows us to analyze the effectiveness of ads on meta platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram) and to display personalized ads.
How the Meta Pixel works
The Meta Pixel allows us to assign visitors to our website to specific target groups for the placement of advertisements on Meta platforms. This allows us to display our advertisements to users who have shown an interest in certain content or products on our website.
The Meta pixel works by embedding JavaScript code or image files in our website. As soon as you visit our site, the Meta pixel connects to the Meta servers and your behavior on our website is transmitted to Meta. This information is usually transferred to a server in the USA and stored there.
Data collected by the Meta pixel
Meta can collect various data through the pixel, including:
• HTTP header data: This data includes your IP address, browser information, accessed websites and the operating system used.
• Pixel-specific data: This includes the pixel ID and information collected by Meta cookies.
• User interaction data: The interactions recorded include, for example, the access of sub-pages, purchases made and subscriptions taken out.
Meta uses this data to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns and to display personalized advertising based on your interests and previous interactions.
Data processing and disclosure to third parties
The collected data is processed by Meta and may be merged with other information that Meta has collected about you (e.g. about your activities on Meta platforms). If you are logged in with your Meta account, this information can be linked directly to your account. Even if you are not logged in to Meta, Meta can recognize you through the collected data on different devices.
Legal basis for processing
The use of the Meta pixel is based on your consent in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR. You can revoke your consent at any time via our cookie settings.
Data transfer to the USA
Meta is based in the United States, a so-called third country according to Art. 44 GDPR. Meta is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which ensures compliance with European data protection standards.
Deactivating the collection of meta data
If you do not want Meta to collect data about your visit to our website, you have the following options:
• Log out of your Meta account before visiting our website.
• Delete the cookies in your browser.
Use our cookie settings to disable tracking by the meta pixel.
Further information and settings for personalized advertising from Meta can be found at: .
