Anyone attending shows, concerts, or other events at the Westfalenhalle and purchasing a drink can donate their returnable cup to a good cause. Under the slogan “Make a difference—donate your returnable cup!”, collection boxes are available at various locations during events at the Westfalenhalle as well as in Halls 1 and 2.
The proceeds will benefit three nonprofit organizations in Dortmund: the Dortmunder Tafel, the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Dortmunder Frauenverbände and the Dortmund Stiftung.
Even if you can't be there in person, you're more than welcome to support the campaign with a direct donation. Links to the organizations' websites are provided below.

The Westfalenhallen Group supports the following organizations in Dortmund
Dortmund Tafel e.V.
The Dortmund Tafel provides food to over 5,100 households in Dortmund every week.
Every day, food that would normally be discarded is collected from retailers as well as large companies. It is then sorted and delivered to the distribution centers. This saves 120,000 kg of food each week.
At the 10 distribution centers in Dortmund, people in need can purchase food of their choice for €2. The selection ranges from fruits, vegetables, and bread to yogurt and cold cuts. Approximately 500 employees make this possible, about 400 of whom are volunteers. In addition to the many volunteers, job seekers participating in the AGH project through the Job Center help ensure that everything runs smoothly. There are also roles in administration, logistics, and finance.
Education - Nutrition - Physical Activity - Fun and Games
In recent years, the food bank has focused particularly on the children in these families. The so-called Panorama Program is built on four pillars.
Education Nutrition Physical Activity Fun and Play
Throughout the week, various projects take place at the Panorama House on Haydn Street. These include homework help, tablet classes, cooking for kids, arts and crafts, tutoring, and free play. During school breaks, we take the children on field trips to zoos, parks, children’s theaters, and much more.
Approximately 300 families—that is, about 1,000 children—take advantage of these programs.
None of this would be possible without donations.
Strong Women – Strong City
The Working Group of Dortmund Women’s Associations is one of the largest and oldest networks for women in Dortmund. Approximately 44 associations, initiatives, and organizations have joined forces here to collectively raise awareness of women’s interests and actively advocate for them.
Dortmund’s women’s organizations stand for diversity, commitment, and solidarity. They bring together a wide range of perspectives—from social and cultural initiatives to organizations for migrant women, as well as women active in education, politics, and the workforce. This diversity is their strength: Together, they advocate for equal opportunity, social participation, and respectful coexistence.
As a strong voice in the city’s community, the women’s associations bring important issues to the forefront—from gender equality in the workplace to the fight against discrimination and the advancement of women in all areas of life. At the same time, they serve as a vibrant platform for exchange, networking, and mutual support.
With a tradition spanning over 100 years and their ongoing commitment, Dortmund’s women’s organizations have a lasting impact on the city’s social life. They stand for an open, just, and forward-looking society—and invite everyone to support their work.
“We promote the knowledge and skills of young people in Dortmund”
Founded in 2000 in Dortmund by local residents and businesses. All those involved with the Dortmund Foundation work on a voluntary basis. The projects are primarily funded by donations from local residents and businesses in Dortmund. Every euro donated goes directly to the project.
Through its projects, the Dortmund-Stiftung focuses primarily on promoting the education and training of young people in Dortmund who are growing up, learning and living in socio-economically disadvantaged circumstances. We want to ensure that as many children and young people as possible remain connected to society or regain that connection. In recent years, we have initiated and launched numerous projects which are now self-sustaining and contribute to the positive development of our young people in Dortmund.
To ensure that the Dortmund-Stiftung is accessible and understandable to the people of Dortmund, we have agreed on the following mission statement, which precisely describes the Foundation’s work:
“We promote the knowledge and skills of young people in Dortmund”
