FEUERWERK DER TURNKUNST

FEUERWERK DER TURNKUNST

When the arena lights dim and the first spotlights illuminate the stage, it’s that time of year again: “Fireworks of Gymnastics” is returning and will once again embark on a tour of Germany with its new production, *hope*, in December 2026 and January 2027. Look forward to a show full of emotion, spectacular artistry, and inspiring moments that will linger in your memory for a long time to come.

Do you know that magical moment when a mere premonition suddenly takes shape and surpasses everything you ever imagined—only more vivid, more radiant, and far more beautiful than your imagination ever allowed? This is precisely the feeling promised by “hope,” the new production from Feuerwerk der Turnkunst. The show is conceived as a poetic artistic journey that showcases gymnastics at its most beautiful and creative: diverse, boldly forward-looking, and deeply rooted in the values of trust, confidence, and lightness.

Since its inception, “Feuerwerk der Turnkunst” has stood for innovation and a passion for showcasing gymnastics in an attractive way within the spotlight of a major show production, integrating it into the context of world-class international acrobatics. In “hope,” classic gymnastics apparatus is reimagined, opening up unexpected perspectives and breaking down boundaries. Apparatus takes on new roles, is creatively repurposed, and is used by artists one might not initially expect to see there. This gives rise to surprising visuals and new facets of gymnastics rarely seen before.

An impressive example of this is Kilian. This versatile athlete comes from a background in classical artistic gymnastics but ventured far beyond the boundaries of his original sport at an early stage. His great curiosity and openness to new challenges make him an extraordinary artist on the hope stage.

Just how far this curiosity takes him is illustrated by a story that began with a playful question: Can Kilian actually compete on the uneven bars? His answer wasn’t long in coming. He stepped up to the apparatus—which was completely new to him—and surprised everyone. Already in his very first practice, he landed a so-called “Shapo”—a challenging aerial move that is a staple of the repertoire even at the international level. What was once considered unusual has now become one of his particular strengths. In *hope*, Kilian proves that talent, courage, and passion aren’t bound by traditional gender roles. Why shouldn’t a man also compete on apparatus that have been associated with women’s gymnastics for decades?

The six-bar high bar is another prime example of a creative approach to classic gymnastics apparatus. While traditional men’s gymnastics uses only a single high bar, the setup consisting of six bars opens up entirely new possibilities. Theperformers fly seemingly effortlessly from bar to bar, creating spectacular formations and producing images full of dynamism, speed, and precision.

Yet behind this apparent ease lies absolute perfection. Every movement, every leg swing, and every takeoff must be precisely coordinated. Only through deep mutual trust and perfect timing does the breathtaking aerial spectacle emerge that captivates the audience. The 6-person high bar showcases gymnastics at its most spectacular and reveals the fascinating possibilities that arise when familiar apparatus are reinterpreted in entirely new ways.

With “hope,” Feuerwerk der Turnkunst presents a show that you don’t just watch—you experience with all your senses. It is an inspiring experience that reminds us that life always goes on and that we can always look forward with confidence. Amid these spectacular feats of athleticism, the artists’ teamwork conveys a deep sense of familiarity and reliability—an anchor in these turbulent times. Let yourself be swept away by this wave of energy and courage—an evening that inspires and lingers in your memory for a long time to come!
