A homage to Maurice Ravel
BOLERO - Homage to Maurice Ravel
To whom does the world owe the "Boléro"? To a fascinating female personality called Ida. She appeared as a dancer, but also as a patron. She commissioned a piece from the composer Maurice Ravel for her ensemble.
Today, the erotic "Boléro" with its Spanish flair is part of a turbulent dance show centred around the artist and benefactress Ida, whose historical role model is Ida Rubinstein. She performed as a mature woman in exotic costumes and was able to inspire people with her expressive art. She was an icon of the 1920s and an exceptional figure in every respect. High society was at her feet.
Now we learn wicked details like this: While searching for talent for her ensemble, Ida finds a young dancer. However, her partner turns out to be Ida's lost love. She gets into a conflict and tries to seduce her ex-lover. But in the end, only the stage can save her passionate soul...
Experience the fate of an extraordinary woman as a brilliant dance drama in remarkably expressive scenes!
The sophisticated sounds of the outstanding live orchestra breathe the temperament of those hot days and nights. They come from Maurice Ravel, but also from Gabriel Fauré, Camille Saint-Saens, Claude Debussy, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Charles Gounod and Jules Massenet.
It is an evening full of sophistication and piquant charm.
Suitable for children aged 6 and over.
