Christmas magic and rapture, colorful folklore and delicate puppetry, a merry snowflake waltz and noble ballroom dancing: hardly any other ballet contains so many different but delightful aspects. This is “The Nutcracker” as it was premiered at the Mariinsky Theater in snowy St. Petersburg in 1892. 

Lush stage sets and the grandiose music by Peter I. Tchaikovsky, played live by an outstanding orchestra, delight you and whisk you away: into the dream world of the girl Clara, who is on the threshold of adulthood. A nocturnal fight with mice and the revival of all toys are part of it. 

And then comes the charming prince who peels himself out of the wooden nutcracker at night! He is a symbol of young male strength, but at the same time as vulnerable as a tin soldier. Clara helps him win against the grotesque mice on Christmas night. In return, the young man travels with her to the realm of magic. 

Hilarious and exotic adventures await them there. It is almost a dancing journey around the world. How will this fairy tale end, with a wedding or with Clara's awakening? You and your family will have to find out for yourselves. 

Because this ballet fairy tale belongs in every sheltered childhood. Show it to your children so that they don't lose their love for the gentle, yet powerful art of classical dance. Young people in particular love to be enchanted. 

Silk ribbons, pointe shoes, splits: there is a lot to look at and marvel at. The entirety of the detailed production with the virtuoso acrobatic dance in the style of Marius Petipa will never disappoint. It is spectacular.
