Authentic Celtic magic and Scottish zest for life

THE SCOTTISH MUSIC PARADE
Straight from Edinburgh with a new program

Authentic Celtic magic and Scottish zest for life—that’s what audiences can experience when “THE SCOTTISH MUSIC PARADE”—the original from Edinburgh—comes to Germany with its new program, “Now and Then.”

Bagpipers, drummers, musicians, singers, and dancers—all flown in directly from Scotland—take the audience on an evening-long musical journey through Scotland that is equally captivating, exciting, and diverse.

Against a castle backdrop featuring towers and battlements—a replica of a Scottish castle—the artists present ever-changing facets of Scottish culture. One moment, the impressive sound of bagpipes and drums roars through the hall, captivating the audience in the stands; the next, soulful ballads full of longing and vastness create an intoxicating atmosphere in the venue.

The participating artists are among the best Scotland has to offer. Almost all of the performers are regulars at the world-famous Edinburgh Tattoo. The bagpipers and drummers include many winners of international competitions and world champions on their instruments.

ven the combination of traditional bagpipe music and modern rock—from Simon & Garfunkel to Phil Collins—works perfectly. Because when the guitarists “turn it up full blast” on their electric guitars and the entire ensemble joins in with their traditional instruments—for example, on Simon & Garfunkel’s “Scarborough Fair,” Phil Collins’ “We Wait and We Wonder,” Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah,” or Coldplay’s “Adventure of a Lifetime,” goosebumps are guaranteed.

Finally, the regiment of drummers brings the hall to a full boil with its “drum fireworks.”
Scotland’s cheerful and energetic dances exude spirit and a boisterous festive atmosphere. In ever-changing formations, wearing magnificent traditional attire and costumes, the artists take the stage and inspire one another with their immense joy in music and dance.
Then, as one of Scotland’s unofficial national anthems—such as “Flower of Scotland” or “Highland Cathedral”—rings out through the mist following an original cannon salute, and the bagpipers and drummers in their uniforms march through the aisles right past the audience, a true Highland atmosphere fills the hall!
