75 years Westernhagen

MARIUS MÜLLER-WESTERNHAGEN - 75LIVE

With his fantastic latest album, "Das eine Leben", Marius Müller-Westernhagen has finally gained attention and respect in the German cultural landscape. A critic from the FAZ wrote: "The one life - that's all Marius Müller-Westernhagen has, and it's touching how he expresses this fact, which is anything but new, but which suddenly shocks everyone it catches up with, as, if we've done the math right, the oldest German rock'n'roller who is still really productive."

It's time to celebrate: "75 Live" means 75 years of Westernhagen, 23 albums that have sold over 17 million copies, including eight number one albums. He has written, produced and performed hits such as "Freiheit", "Sexy", "Lass uns leben", "Es geht mir gut" and so many others. So Marius Müller-Westernhagen will be embarking on a major tour in May 2024 to celebrate this career, life and rock'n'roll. On the setlist: a journey through his extensive oeuvre.

Because even though Marius Müller-Westernhagen is a great album artist, his natural habitat is and always has been the stage. This career is not only one of the most formative, but also one of the only authentic rock'n'roll stories from Germany. Even before his first albums, Marius Müller-Westernhagen spent nights in sweaty cellars paying homage to the blues and early rock'n'roll; he was and is the "singer in a rock'n'roll band" that he sang about in "Mit 18". And yet, over the years, he has constantly developed and reinvented himself artistically on the basis of "his music". And he has always remained true to himself. This perhaps explains his impressively long career, which continues to this day.

"Is rock'n'roll dying again?", Marius asks rhetorically - and provides the answer right away: "Never, at least not for me, as long as I can or am allowed to set foot on a stage to make some nice noise - and of course there are still enough people who are willing to listen to me."

The never-ending pandemic had caused an unexpected and painful break for Marius Müller-Westernhagen, as it had for everyone else on this planet. Among other things, he had to cancel his planned tour of theaters and opera houses (a project close to Westernhagen's heart). He is now looking forward all the more to the concerts to mark his 75th birthday, which will take him back to the biggest arenas in Germany in 2024. With the exceptional talents of his US band, with whom the singer-songwriter has been uncovering the wildly beating heart of his music for years, he wants to get as loud as possible at eight concerts in May 2024: "I want to make some nice noise again," says Marius Müller-Westernhagen. "Let's rock! Damn it, time demands it!"
