The world's most successful musical biography about the “King”
70 Years of “Jailhouse Rock”:
The hit musical starring Grahame Patrick and Ed Enoch
will celebrate the big anniversary of the Elvis classic in 2027!
His gaze, his voice, his legendary hip swing: With a billion records sold, Elvis Presley is considered the greatest solo artist of all time. 2027 marks the 70th anniversary of the recording and release of his global hit “Jailhouse Rock” as well as the cult film of the same name starring Elvis Presley. To mark this occasion, “ELVIS – The Musical,” the world’s most successful musical biography about the “King,” is once again embarking on a major tour through Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Featuring Elvis portrayer Grahame Patrick and Elvis’ longtime companion Ed Enoch, the hit production brings the rock ’n’ roll legend’s greatest hits and moving life story back to life—including a performance on February 24 at Westfalenhalle 2 in Dortmund.
Elvis Aaron Presley, born on January 8, 1935, in Tupelo, Mississippi, became the most influential figure in 20th-century rock and pop culture over the course of his unparalleled career. The year 1956, marked by Presley’s first hit single, “Heartbreak Hotel,” and his debut album, *Elvis Presley*, is considered the birth of the “King of Rock ’n’ Roll.” Presley gave his final concert in June 1977, before passing away officially just a short time later on August 16 from a sudden cardiac arrest at his Graceland estate in Memphis, Tennessee. Yet legends and myths continue to surround his death, ensuring that Presley remains unforgettable to this day. For his fans, he is still alive—at least in their hearts.
An impressive tribute to the “King of Rock ’n’ Roll”
Emotional, powerful, and captivating: In “ELVIS – The Musical,” audiences can once again experience the idol of an entire generation up close at various stages of his life. From his first studio recording as a gift for his mother, through his early days with Sam Phillips at the regional label Sun Records and the release of his first single, “That’s All Right,” in 1954, to his move to the national RCA label and his international breakthrough in 1956 with “Heartbreak Hotel,” his debut album “Elvis Presley,” and his manager “Colonel” Tom Parker, all the way to the superlative concert “Aloha from Hawaii” in 1973 at the Honolulu International Center Arena, which was the first concert by a solo artist to be broadcast via satellite to over 40 countries around the world and achieved higher viewership ratings in the U.S. than the first moon landing had just a few years earlier.
The two-and-a-half-hour live spectacle has already thrilled over a million spectators, bringing the magic surrounding the rock ’n’ roll icon back to the stage while presenting Elvis Presley’s entire musical repertoire live—from gospel and blues to unbridled rock ’n’ roll—and offering an impressive retrospective of his life.
The “best Elvis impersonator since Elvis” and the seven-piece “Las Vegas Showband”
With Grahame Patrick, this tribute to the “King” boasts the “world’s best Elvis impersonator since Elvis” in its ranks. When he steps into the spotlight in the world-famous white jumpsuit and other faithful recreations of the original outfits, you might think you were seeing Elvis Presley himself on stage. Grahame Patrick also shines with an impressively close vocal resemblance to the original, which he proves time and again throughout the show.
He is accompanied by first-class singers, actors, showgirls, and the seven-piece “Las Vegas Showband,” who create an unforgettable musical experience—and, of course, all the hits are performed live: from “Love Me Tender” to “Jailhouse Rock” to “Suspicious Minds,” as well as gospel songs like “Why Me, Lord?” and “How Great Thou Art,” whose live version recorded in Memphis in 1974 won a Grammy Award. Elaborate choreography, dramatic scenes, and original film footage guide the audience through Elvis’s life and wonderfully round out the spectacular show.
Contemporaries and eyewitnesses make the show unique
In addition to its outstanding cast, “ELVIS – The Musical” derives its uniqueness from the inclusion of real-life eyewitnesses and contemporaries. Ed Enoch, leader of the legendary “The Stamps Quartet,” toured with Elvis for over 1,000 concerts from 1971 to 1977 and sang at his funeral. He has also appeared on stage alongside Grahame Patrick just as often as part of “ELVIS – The Musical.” The Stamps Quartet is the oldest professional gospel quartet in U.S. history that is still active. In 2027, Ed Enoch will once again support the show live with his “Stamps.” Also featured is original film and photo material from Elvis’s former tour manager and concert photographer Ed Bonja (†). In addition to his Elvis photographs and recordings, he supported producer Bernhard Kurz with his insider knowledge during the musical’s development.
Bernhard Kurz, the man with a knack for hit productions
With “ELVIS – The Musical,” hit producer Bernhard Kurz and tour promoter Oliver Forster have created a tribute to the “King.” For his successful works, Kurz has been honored with awards including the “Artist Choice Award” for “Best Producer” in Las Vegas. At the same time, he is enjoying success across Europe with shows about Tina Turner (“Simply The Best”) and the Beatles (“all you need is love!”). Kurz has been a true heavyweight in show business for decades and, with the Berlin-based show series “Stars in Concert,” has become a recognized expert in look-alike shows over the course of his career.
